Gas Interlock Installations

From a health and safety perspective, gas interlock installations are considered mandatory. Also referred to as a gas safety interlocks system, these devices are designed to serve as a failsafe to maintain a commercial kitchen safety and reduce the risk of accidents. Gas interlock installations achieve this by restricting the flow of gas to appliances until ventilation systems are operational and functioning appropriately.

As a result, gas interlock installations effectively prevent the dangerous or potentially lethal accumulation of nitrogen dioxide and carbon monoxide in the air.  In order to meet British Standard BS6173, it is a legal requirement for all commercial kitchens to be fitted with a gas interlock system.
